The Energy of Spring
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Spring is associated with the element of Wood. This is the only living element in this model and has very unique qualities to offer.
The power of Wood is gentle, persistent, and filled with creative potential. It has the power of both being and becoming—of being true to your own nature and becoming more yourself by clearly expressing your inner needs and desires. In working with this element, we find the energy to push forward with strength and firmness of purpose, always remaining supple, yielding, and true to our nature.
This Wood element also correspond with the organs of the Liver and the Gallbladder.
The Liver is the body’s largest organ; it is the body’s master laboratory, in which nourishment for the entire body is stored and distributed. The Liver has hundreds of essential functions, including the formation of blood and the cleansing and filtering of blood to help the body eliminate toxins and ensure its continued vitality. It is said in Traditional Chinese Medicine that the Liver rules “flowing and spreading,” which means that the Liver is responsible for keeping the free and easy flow of blood, energy, and emotions throughout the body, mind, and spirit.
The Gallbladder gives us drive and the passion to excel and the action potential necessary for these to come to fruition. Dealing with adversity also comes under the role of the Gallbladder, as well as most forms of decision making.
Physically as we work with your spine, limbs and joints, as well as muscles, ligaments and tendons in this Qigong we will stimulate, enhance and balance these wood qualities in your body, and in turn support and encourage these organs to function as well as possible.
Traditionally these courses were taught together, as Taoist Longevity Breathing from one point of view is just a variation of opening and closing, which is the specialty of The Marriage of Heaven & Earth Qigong.
While each one of these courses is a powerful practice in and of itself, their ability to improve a persons health and well being is expotnetialy increased when combined.
For this Retreat, we created a schedule that will allow as many people to get the most from learning these practices. We look forward to sharing these arts with you.

Two Courses in One Retreat
This spring Aaron will teach two courses in one very full retreat.
First a full 5 day retreat focusing on "The Marriage of Heaven & Earth Qigong", an ancient exercise that has been improving peoples neck, back, spine, and joints for centuries.
The second will be a full weekend teaching "Taoist Longevity Breathing", this method not only improves your breathing capacity but more importantly supports blood circulation throught the body.
"The Marriage of Heaven & Earth" Qigong 5 day Retreat
March 18th -23rd,2017
The first 5 days we will focus on learning "The Marriage of Heaven & Earth" qigong. This particular exercise is fantastic in helping neck, shoulder, and back issues, but the real value comes from using this relatively simple movement as a container for deeper and deeper understanding and access to your body's energetic system.
While the outer or external movements make up only 10 % of this exercise, the majority of the benefits are to be had from what you will learn to do under the skin or internally. First your will learn to lengthen and open all the tissues of your body from head to toes. From there we will focus on the opening and closings of all the joints of the body. Working on a physical level and then diving deeper into the fluids and energetics of each joint, finding and reactivating your bodies natural pulsing rhythm for increased fluid circulation and joint health.
From here you will learn how to move as one integrated well functioning unit. This occurs as we learn how to access and exercise the ligaments of the spine.
Each of the internal skills offer a huge improvement to your general health and well being. When combined the effect takes on a synergistic quality that has each part supporting and unlocking the others until every part is improving at an exponential rate.
Once learned, these skills can be readily used in any other healthcare practice as the fuel to take that practice to the next level no matter what you are training for.

"Taoist Longevity Breathing" 3 day Weekend Retreat
March 24th-26th, 2017
Taoist Longevity Breathing is a powerful method for improving not only your breathing capacity and quality, but more importantly for developing the capacity of your breathing to positively effect the fluids of your body.
This weekend will be a stand alone course as well as a continuation of the previous course's focus on opening and closing.
You will learn the basic mechanics of your breathing including the various muscles, nerves, and tissues involved and how to improve their quality and ability to function. From there, we will turn our focus to the quality of your breath and how using various techniques for improving that, has far reaching affects on the mind and emotions.
You will learn to breath not only from your belly and sides but from the lower and upper back and the almost never used top portion of your lungs. This practice can lead to giving your heart a gentle and rhythmic massage to improve its health and functioning as well.
Like all our programs, once learned, this method can be easily included into any other health care practice you may already be doing in order to enhance or unlock that particular practice potential.

A Special Note From Aaron
Hello,
If I am to be completely honest with you, initially I had an intense dislike of "The Marriage of Heaven and Earth" set as well as the Taoist Longevity Breathing.
In hindsight, I think it may have been because it went directly against my very watery nature or that I had my own issues with the organs and emotions of anger and indecision. Whatever the case, I can say as I progressed in training the set and allowing the material contained and learned in this set, to nurture and grow within me, in a relatively short time my issues with anger and indecision along with various other health issues disappeared. I found in their place a better functioning human being, more balanced on many levels including the physical, energetic, and emotional.
So now after over a decade of practicing and teaching this material, I cannot help but recommend everyone learn this material because of the great results I've seen others enjoy and the benefits I have personally experienced.
Wherever you are on your path towards better health and what ever vehicles that you are using, this set can offer you the skills to go deeper and farther than you have ever imagined. These skills provide the fuel that can dramatically improve whatever it is you practice from riding a bike to martial arts to healing a specific health issue.

There are two phrases that I use in my teaching and have applied to my personal practice to great effect. One is that "The Only Constant in the Universe is Change" and the other is "You Become What You Practice".
All things are in a constant state of Change from the large to the small and even beyond microscopic, and that it is when this flow is interrupted or hindered that a majority of the problems in life and in our bodies occur. It has been my experience and that of my students that by creating the right relationship with that flow of change and supporting it that a great deal of the stress of life is removed.
One of the most interesting things I have found from teaching over the last ten years is the large majority of people, to use a metaphor, that plant carrots in their gardens and then expect to harvest peas. I have seen so many use anger, stress, tension, and even intimidation to try to make relaxation and release happen within themselves and yet not realize they are sowing the exact opposite of which they wish to reap.
I personally teach and use a much different approach, it is based on the simple yet profound truth that if you want to be softer and more open then practice that very thing you wish to become. If your goal is to release a restriction or blockages then practicing releasing is the best path forward. While this may seem a simple and self evident truth, I have found that most fail to follow this advice and very rarely succeed in achieving their personal goals.
You will find that I weave these concepts into all my workshops and retreats as they lead to developing and using a positive and healthy relationship with various aspects of your body and your self. It is my desire that the skills that will be taught in this retreat have far reaching positive effects on the lives of the participants and all the lives they touch.
