I am thrilled to be returning to the Midwest to share a veritable buffet of Taoist Health practices and skills that have helped myself and my clients improve their lives in many ways. My host Joel and Elaine are two fantastic students and teachers in their own right and I am honored that they are hosting me again.
After the success of our last events, we have decided to expand this weekend a bit and offer a wider selection of training.
Each event is designed to offer a different skill set on its own and as well as compliment and enhance all the other events of the weekend. Of course it would best to immerse yourself in the whole weekend and see what transformation can take place, but everyone is welcome to pick and choose those that fit into your particular training path.

Chi Gung Tui Na is a very ancient and specific way to help open loosen and remove restrictions in the body. Focusing on the subtle structures of the human body and using sensitivity and respect to move whatever the issue is forward toward better functioning and health.
In this workshop you will learn two specific skills that can form a corner stone of any practice or serve as new tools that will improve any hands on method for healing.
Pulsing-.The human body has a complex and huge orchestra of pulses happening all the time from birth to death and it is the quality of these pulses that maintain a vibrant and healthy condition for your body.
This skill is about how to locate the pulse of whatever structure you are working with, determine if there is a glitch or issue in that pulse and how to reset or help support a return of that pulse to a more balance and functional rhythm.
Spiraling- Found in the growth and functioning patterns of the majority of the natural world, especially in the human body, from muscular chains to arteries and veins there is a curve to every thing that lies beneath your skin.
In this course we will explore ways to use this utilize this spiraling to release tension and stress in various system of the body in order to return it to a better functioning In this workshop you will learn how to access these patterns in the soft tissue and recognize the natural movement pathways as they travel throughout the body. Accessing this skill can help release whatever restrictions maybe present in most structures and allow a greater degree of relaxation, flexibility and movement.
Chi gung tui na is a very unique way of working with the body. While subtle at first once you begin working with these skills the inherent healing power of the human body will quickly present itself and you can connect to the powerful and effective techniques of pulsing and spiraling.

Since antiquity, the Taoist of China have had various practices that are designed to help improve a persons health and well being.
Today these exercise systems are popularly known as
Tai Chi Chuan or Chi Gung.
What makes these unique is that the focus is shifted from intensity and massive activation of the body to build strength, to releasing, relaxing and letting go so that health is increased by removing restrictions.
This evening workshop will serve several functions one it will be a great introduction to how the Taoist water method of training the body works and what the system is so comprehensive and complete.
For those that will be attending my weekend workshop on how to locate and open the energy gates of your body this will be a great starting place and offer you skill that can be used the entire weekend to increase you ability to absorb the material.
Opening the Energy Gates
|
The energy gates system of your body is a lesser known template of how energy or "chi" or vital life force moves through and assists your body in functioning. The "Gates" serve as another map that can be used to understand health and can be used to help yourself release blockages and improve functioning.
First you will learn how to locate and feel theses gates very clearly in your own body. Next you will learn how to open and release any restrictions in this system. The main tool will be an Outer Dissolving Meditation.
From here we will explore various methods of movement and patterns that can add to your ability to open and clear any blockages in these gates. This looks very similar to practicing the slow movements of Tai Chi, a popular health exercise.
We will use a simple & easy to learn movement called Cloud Hands that is a full system of exercise in its own right.
You will finish the weekend by learning a very unique and powerful exercise for releasing and opening your back and spine. The health of your spine is used as a barometer for your over all health in many traditions. In this particular exercise you will learn how to open release and integrate your spine and legs together into a solid well functioning whole.
These skills once learned and practiced can form the foundation for a deeper understanding or use in any other system such as tai chi, chi gung, yoga or any mind body practice you currently have. It is my hope that the more people can release what is bound inside of them the better we can make the world we live in a better place.

Push Hands is a two person exercise that comes from the martial art side of Tai Chi Chuan. Designed as a bridge between learning tai chi skills alone in a form to actually using those skills in a fighting context. Since fighting has been rendered moot by the modern times and practiced by few, this practice has been adapted to be used as a great tool for self exploration.
In this particular workshop we will focus on developing what is often called listening skills, that quality of touch that can be an advantage in any engagement. We will also go through the 4 main energies of Tai Chi and how to generate them, so a practitioner can take that skill back into their practice.
For those that attended last time we will refine the skills you learned and upgrade them further.
